Hi, I use catdoc that works fine with both RTF and MSWord. There is also an accompanying tool that shows Excel spreadsheets, xls2cvs. Be sure to pick the latest version 0.93.something because earlier versions in some cases drops text at the end of the document, replacing it with a sequence of question marks.
