Some of you may find thii message, especially the URL which it gives,
useful. I'm looking at the GoCR source code to see what has to be done to
make it an easily-used filter

GOCR *is* a command line program, and blind users
of Microsoft Windows can use it in combination with
The vOICe video software as described at the URL

to convert a captured video snapshot into a plain
text file which in turn gets spoken via a text to
speech engine. GOCR is here used to take an image
file and produce text.

Part of the description on the use of GOCR on this
web page should be applicable to Linux users, but
any executables on that page were prepared only for
use under Microsoft Windows.

Best regards,

Peter Meijer
