offtopic: win+serial protocol cracking

hey people,

I've obtained one of those scrolling LED badges, unforunately only windows
software with it ;(

Does anyone know howot nicely snif the protocol are know of a source where
it is already cracked?
google seams not to know anything, pitty ;(

or does someone have a simular device and can crack the protocol? I,m
willing to write the program for it afterwards.
