Running Spinrite from Linux?

I fail to see the point as well.  I have not read the documentation though 
but I suspect it's for someone who runs windows as the main os and wants to 
take care of the other file systems from it.

OK, but why would we want to do that? This is a Linux list, not a
Windows list. Why would we be interested in Windows executables?

I fail to see the point. If there's some data recovery required on some
drive there are Linux tools for the job that work very well, thank you
very much. And, they're a lot cheaper.
