The xpdf-utils package contains  pdftotext who works in commandline;
there is also pstotext

And there is a p2h script with a menu to choose between pstotext or 
pdftotext (if available): p2h converts your pdf in txt + html, and the 
result can immediately be vieuwed in Lynx;
