Is it possible to communicate with skype?

If I were to do it this way, could I get incoming calls? If so, could it be
on my current phone number? The idea doesn't seem so bad if using a USB
adapter. I'm just not familiar with who provides service to such a setup for
the system to get it's phone service, and what features they provide.
