Problems with Vmware on Debian maybe Fedora instead?

Hello all,
I have been using Debian for some time now, but i've had problems with running applications like Qemu or Vmware on it since they requires the Kernel header sources. I have also tried to run Asterisk but with the same result so maybe thinking about going to Fedora again or can someone tell me how to install these things?
