Newbie to Linux, Speakup software speech question.

True, but that isn't sufficient, is it? Neither of those packages
provides the tts engine, in other words. Or are you saying that
speech-dispatcher and speechd_up will default to using his installed
Festival?

I confess I don't know because I've been using TTSynth with Speakup for
some time.
