If you have access to a braille display, i'd recommend debian. It's installer is very straight-forward and it doesn't take you mutch to learn. Also i'm a very beginner in linux, so the only thing I could really recommend is to go on. Try out as mutch as you can. I'm myself going to install a fedora distro for now and slackware is in the queue.
