Audio editing software - was Re: talking linux wanted

Ubuntu is a distribution of Linux that is becoming quite popular. I think 
one will probably need Orca or LSR installed and the default password the 
system will come with unless they set it up to boot to a text login. I 
wonder if such were installed if Audacity would work for editing audio?
