Sound card problems on a dell with ubuntu 8.04

Hi All:

I switched to Ubuntu 8.04 on my laptop which had been running 7.10.  It is 
a Intel Corporation 82801G (rev 01).  It worked on 7.10 and no longer 
works on 8.04.

Does anyone have any idea of what to try?
