Inquiry: How to set the crontab job permanently

Dear Geoff
Please be informed that we have faced with two different cases regarding the
crontab job problem . Please be informed that we have two Linux servers that
on one of them the mentioned procedure could get through and on the other
one the same procedure failed (I mean activating the crontab inside the
rc.local file) . Can you please do me favor and let me know if you have any
idea on what is wrong in our case here ?
