Hello everyone,

My name is Terri. I just joined this list in hopes of learning more about
Linux, and rather or not it is accessible for the blind.

Honestly, I don't know too much about it, nor do I fully understand what I
do know. I've been doing a lot of reading though.
I do remember the days of Dos sort of. I am currently using a computer
running XP Pro, and the screen reader Jaws.

While I really like my screen reader, I am so very sick of windows! :)
Honestly, I used to never get viruses. I felt so very lucky compared to my
friends. But in the last 6 months or so, I've gotten them repeatedly. Even
with so-called good protection. This last time really messed up my system,
and it still isn't running as well as it could be.

I was very interested in getting a Mac for quite some time. But I feel that
this is something I just can't aford to do. I'm certainly not made of money.
:)

Yesterday I was viewing my local Craig's List ads, and I saw an Asus Eee PC
900 for sale. It's in my price range, and I would love to get it if it's
still available. I'm not sure what Linux distributor is on there. I hope I
have said this correctly? :)

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this Netbook? If
so, would you be willing to share your experiences with me?
If it's more appropriate to contact me off-list about this, then please feel
free to do so.

The only thing that I have concerns about so far, with this Netbook, is that
the hard drive is only 4 gigs. I didn't know they even made hard drives that
small anymore. I feel silly for saying this, but it's true.

If I do end up purchasing this Netbook, what will I need to do in order to
get started with it?
I'm so new at this I'm not even sure really what questions I should be
asking. So any advice will be very much appreciated.

Well I will close for now, as I don't want to make this first message too
long. I look forward to being a member of this list, and learning as much as
I can.

Thank you,

Terri
