Problems with Autotools on CentOS

They appear to be broken. The CentOS version should be the latest, since 
we just reimaged my virtual private server on 1and1.com 

I run a script called augogen.sh which runs autoreconnf. There are no 
errors. I then run ./configure. Again there are no errors. When I run 
make I get the following:

What are the possible causes and solutions?
