There's no problem here either: I'm using Gnus under emacs to access the
list at nntp://news.gmane.org/gmane.linux.redhat.blinux.general

Gmane.org has led me to re-engage with NNTP. There are plenty of
accessible NNTP news readers, including Gnus under Emacs (my favourite),
Alpine, Trn, Nn and more.
