The sleep command is necessary and so is using md5sum to check the .md5 
file as its input.  That in turn will check the iso if present in the 
directory.  I had used md5sum pretty infrequently and forgot about that 
detail.  In any case so far as I can tell the iso checks out as ok now 
that it's being checked correctly.
