It's hidden to the point of almost being undocumented, but it's possible
to make a configuration file for vlc in which aliases can be stored.
That file would normally live in ~/.config/vlc/vlc.conf If I remember
properly. I'll mess with it a little later this week and see if I can
figure all of it out. The graphical user interface set has full and
ready access to configuration file creation and management and the
command line users are the odd ones out so far sa the vlc project is
concerned.
