Well Jude, while I usually am not in bash, when I mentioned how anoying the tab-completion fundtion was, some1 in our LUG suggested a shell called YASH. Way I understand, in YASH, each time you tab it advances through the choices. In Debian we have version 2.36. Hope that helps. Hart
