I installed Kali on an amd-64 k8 computer. It can emulate intel but
prefers not to do so. On Mon, 22 Jun 2015, Bryan Duarte wrote:

I know I could download the program refit and get it to work but that is a pain once it is installed due to no speech at log in. Are you installing this on a Windows based computer? I also heard there is a Kali distro for the Raspberry PI but I have not had time to look in to that yet. If you have any tips on getting a Linux Distro up and running on a Mac successful other than refit please do share. thanks

I got it installed on another disk (I use drive sleds here) by booting the disk then hitting s just after the beep and hitting enter. The sound card asked me several questions I used the keyboard to answer. When that finished, the system ejected the kali dvd then rebooted. What came up next was an orca login frame and after I logged in the current version of kali-linux continued to work. Kali-linux is not my main distro, the command line environments like debian and archlinux have higher priority for now. All of this installation happened with no screen connected to the computer. Maybe next week I'll get out and buy a screen for this computer if all works out correctly.
