Strange problem with Google

I have Debian Jessie wet up for CLI only, with brltty. If I try to use 
Google the computer hangs. It won't respond to any input from the qwerty 
keyboard or from the focus 40 keyboard. it won't even respond to the 
power button. To get it working again I have to pull the plug, then 
reboot. This occurs on Ubuntu also and on Vinux 4. What's going on? Is 
there a way to prevent this?
