resetting root password?

About the only way I can think to reset your root password is via a
chroot from another OS. You would need to chroot into the system and
run passwd to change the password for any users on the system whose
passwords you have forgotten. Not a difficult task normally, but from a
virtual machine, it can be a nightmare. Maybe put a virtual TalkingArch
or live Debian image into the virtual CD/DVD drive and boot from that.
You should then be able to mount the virtual hard disk and chroot into
it. Hope this helps.
