well,
there is one thing that could be done that would definitely lock out spammers.
use of GpG encrypted email and just have everyone share their GpG fingerprints. At that point, most spam bots would be locked out. This wouldn't prevent them from sending to you, but it certainly would make it far easier to filter them out using the subject line and their email.

Now, I know this seems like a lot of extra work, but I am already on a couple of lists where encrypted traffic is the norm and anything unencrypted gets dropped and not passed.
