Installing Ubuntu on an AMD HP Laptop

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 right now, but if I were installing a new
system, I'd go with Ubuntu 18.04. I'm not sure what you mean by update,
but running sudo apt-get upgrade will update your system without a
problem. It won't move you from Ubuntu 16.04 to Ubuntu 18.04 though. For
that, I just reinstall.
