looking for Lennix distribution?

I tried Mint. It is a nice distribution of linux. It comes talking out 
of the box. I was disappointed that I could not install it on an 
external disk or SD card. How about Ubuntu and Fedora? Can you install 
on an external drive or card? Do they come talking out of the box, or do 
you have to issue certain commands at a certain moment during 
installation to get Speakup talking?
