I'm happy if that's the case, but it does surprise me -- I thought the
feature series exposed a preexistent bug which was no longer possible to
mask or work around.

I've checked your v9 blurb, and I couldn't find a summary of the
approach taken (even if temporarily). Can you please write it up, in the
v9 thread? There must have been an important (if small) change from v8
to v9, in that regard; I believe. Or maybe I misunderstood.
