It is not unexpected though. One issue that will come up over and over
again is that Fedora items are built for the current head. The design
and goal of various packages are tied to that head and when trying to
'back-port' things to FC3 (for RHEL-4) and RHL7.2 (for RHEL-3) will
not work because they used something that didnt appear until FC5 or
FC6.

This is the major reason that some packages going into any sort of
EPEL will not be simple ports of stuff from FC to EPEL. They will
instead have to be stuff that is built from the ground-up to support
say RHEL-3 and also 4,5 etc.
