Well, in case you missed it I *was* attending the meetings and I was
even in the steering committee until things had me step down, because
epel took such a bad course, and there is just so much man-material in
me that can burn out. I was involved in most viper-filled mail threads
as well, so I was surely not avoiding the pain.

If I can't make a difference as a voting member, why should I be more
successful as a random observer? In the worst case people would accuse
me of distracting the discussion.

My former seat is the one labeled vacant and you should volunteer to
get on it and see if you can try to do something.
