curious corruption 2-byte shift of all data

It may be that only *part* of the filesystem has been shigted by 2 bytes.
Look through the partition and see if you can find blocks that look kike
proper files/signatures.
If that's a case later on in the filesystem, then do a binary search to see
if you can figure out where the boundry is between the shifted and unshifted
parts.
