Right now, these improvements are all really around downstream projects, such 
as secondary arches.  With a scm like git or hg it becomes much easier to 
clone/pull changes from upstream and integrate them (sometimes automatically) 
with changes from downstream.  No games to play with cvs version files, just 
a clone, or a pull/merge and you've got your own repo to play with that your 
own buildsystem could build from.  Theoretically it would make things like 
OLPC easier to get off the ground as your own repo can move quicker and the 
upstream repo can easily pull/merge your changes in when they are ready.

It also makes some of the management a bit easier, making release "branch" 
dirs, making branchdirs based on a given tag (impossible with cvs I'm told) 
and a few other things.

The problem is that none of this is really that visible to the people just 
using Fedora, and all of these things can be accomplished without any changes 
to workflow.
