ata_piix driver does not work for SATA II controller on my computer

Hello everybody：
	While I using the usb disk boot the computer for installing the fedora 8, it is long time for loading the driver for sata II controller ICH8 (ata_piix.ko) ,and then tell me cannot find any storage media of my computer.
here the specs	
Intel P965+82801HB(ICH8) chipset 
1GB DDR2 at 667Mhz
250GB SATA drive
display adapter is a 7900 Nvidia on a PCI-16 slot

Could anyone help me or give me some advices?Help.
