Nice Recommendation, but it has a very low rate of success. I think the individual members can stand up to the task of media distribution. Another thing will be nature of the cyber cafe holders, since most of them do not welcome such suggestions due to the fact they get nothing out of it.

Hi all,
 Fedora availability initiative

I am just presenting an idea for making fedora available to everyone.

Currently:

                1. Fedora
CD/DVD is downloadable (Peoples having high speed internet access can own it)

                2.
Available on very selected shops in very few cities. (Not everyone know these
places)

                3. Very
limited information on web about shops selling it. (Many times if found these
shops are not reachable to all. One may find nearest shop in other state.)

                4. It
will become tough for Fedora community to distribute free CD/DVD copies when it
comes to a large number.

Proposed solution.

                Almost
every City/Town is having cyber cafes (Internet shops).

We can take benefit of these.

I’ll explain how it will work

A Fedora Ambassador have to set up a network of cyber café
owners in his state/town/city/area. Target cyber cafes nearby school, colleges
and other educational intuitions. Thereafter ambassador’s  job is to provide CD/DVD images to this
network.

The cafe owner have to display a board, can be a printout telling
“Fedora 10 Available, buy your own
CD/DVD and get it burnt for Rs 20 INR”. This amount should be constant across
all cybercafe cafes in a state/town/city/area
A blank DVD cost Rs 25 to Rs 30 in India + Rs 20 for burning is easily affordable. :)

This will interest the café owners to sell it as they are getting
money for the same.

We will publish a web page which will have list of these
vendors categorized by Country/State/City/Town so that these people can easily
be searched.
