This causes updates to clash and fail on FC3 x86_64. It is wrong to add i386 perl to that repository, so the only way to recover is to use: yum remove perl.i386 We are deeply sorry about this inconvenience and will try to avoid this from ever happening again in the future. Description : The bootparamd process provides bootparamd, a server process which provides the information needed by diskless clients in order for them to successfully boot. Bootparamd looks first in /etc/bootparams for an entry for that particular client; if a local bootparams file doesn't exist, it looks at the appropriate Network Information Service (NIS) map. Some network boot loaders (notably Sun's) rely on special boot server code on the server, in addition to the RARP and TFTP servers. This bootparamd server process is compatible with SunOS bootparam clients and servers which need that boot server code. You should install bootparamd if you need to provide boot information to diskless clients on your network. --------------------------------------------------------------------- * Mon Jan 24 2005 Martin Stransky 0.17-19.FC3 - fix #144933 (bootparamd does not return the right line from /etc/bootparams) - new parameter "-l" can exclude dns lookup during host search --------------------------------------------------------------------- This update can be downloaded from: http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/3/ ba88dba30505a61c5f093e9d5d5dc3b9 SRPMS/bootparamd-0.17-19.FC3.src.rpm 09f72fee86afd51c5afdf170a20818b2 x86_64/bootparamd-0.17-19.FC3.x86_64.rpm c97fa013bd61b70df04d049d7cf731c9 x86_64/debug/bootparamd-debuginfo-0.17-19.FC3.x86_64.rpm 5c2aa4cd9d76cda2badb930cdb39d57e i386/bootparamd-0.17-19.FC3.i386.rpm 6f9bdcd1397c08bd3be382cd0d784578 i386/debug/bootparamd-debuginfo-0.17-19.FC3.i386.rpm This update can also be installed with the Update Agent; you can launch the Update Agent with the 'up2date' command. --------------------------------------------------------------------- From stransky at redhat.com Mon May 2 08:27:40 2005 From: stransky at redhat.com (Martin Stransky) Date: Mon, 02 May 2005 10:27:40 +0200 Subject: [SECURITY] Fedora Core 3 Update: tcpdump-3.8.2-8.FC3 Message-ID: <4275E47C.6040700@redhat.com> --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedora Update Notification FEDORA-2005-351 2005-05-02 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Product : Fedora Core 3 Name : tcpdump Version : 3.8.2 Release : 8.FC3 Summary : A network traffic monitoring tool. The Security-enhanced Linux kernel contains new architectural components originally developed to improve the security of the Flask operating system. These architectural components provide general support for the enforcement of many kinds of mandatory access control policies, including those based on the concepts of Type Enforcement?, Role-based Access Control, and Multi-level Security. policycoreutils contains the policy core utilities that are required for basic operation of a SELinux system. These utilities include load_policy to load policies, setfiles to label filesystems, newrole to switch roles, and run_init to run /etc/init.d scripts in the proper context. --------------------------------------------------------------------- * Thu Apr 21 2005 Dan Walsh 1.18.1-2.12 - Eliminate bogus error on upgrading policy * Thu Mar 10 2005 Dan Walsh 1.18.1-2.11 - Cleanup by eric paris --------------------------------------------------------------------- This update can be downloaded from: http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/3/ e11f57a94de3e9295cb340cffc68dd4a SRPMS/policycoreutils-1.18.1-2.12.src.rpm 084b9f5319e48d27934e6cf7fd4d388b x86_64/policycoreutils-1.18.1-2.12.x86_64.rpm 6ff04e33844d38235d0883a167459da1 x86_64/debug/policycoreutils-debuginfo-1.18.1-2.12.x86_64.rpm a3fe22080d1f5edc7f1854b9db9c770c i386/policycoreutils-1.18.1-2.12.i386.rpm bee0fff781c5195e22c577d0ddf351ce i386/debug/policycoreutils-debuginfo-1.18.1-2.12.i386.rpm This update can also be installed with the Update Agent; you can launch the Update Agent with the 'up2date' command. --------------------------------------------------------------------- -- From kzak at redhat.com Wed May 4 10:43:28 2005 From: kzak at redhat.com (Karel Zak) Date: Wed, 4 May 2005 06:43:28 -0400 Subject: Fedora Core 3 Update: words-3.0-2.3 Message-ID: <200505041043.j44AhSZ8023996@porkchop.devel.redhat.com> --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedora Update Notification FEDORA-2005-355 2005-05-04 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Product : Fedora Core 3 Name : words Version : 3.0 Release : 2.3 Summary : A dictionary of English words for the /usr/share/dict directory. Description : LAPACK (Linear Algebra PACKage) is a standard library for numerical linear algebra. LAPACK provides routines for solving systems of simultaneous linear equations, least-squares solutions of linear systems of equations, eigenvalue problems, and singular value problems. Associated matrix factorizations (LU, Cholesky, QR, SVD, Schur, and generalized Schur) and related computations (i.e., reordering of Schur factorizations and estimating condition numbers) are also included. LAPACK can handle dense and banded matrices, but not general sparse matrices. Similar functionality is provided for real and complex matrices in both single and double precision. LAPACK is coded in Fortran77 and built with gcc. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information: This update fixes problems in some lapack libraries (problems with compiler optimalization). Name up in lights. Etc. FDSCo: You can post a link to your own self-intro or similar on your Wiki page. FDSCo: Take the divided list of writers who have volunteered and contact them directly to see what help they need, or what their status and interest is. Gavin: To make a Wiki Contributors page that incorporates the Writers and Editors pages somehow, linking to Self-Intros. This is part of the "find the interested writers" sub-project. Gavin: Hunt fedoraforum.org for doc ideas and writers. Gavin: To look into getting a FDSCo interview on lugradio.org. Paul/Karsten: FDL for the new style chapter Karsten: Assign task of making docs use common files in ./ instead of ../, in order to work for separate modules per document. Karsten: Deliver minutes that are better organized, using the FESCO minutes as an example. Will start posting to fedora-announce as well as fedora-docs-list. Karsten: Look into reordering CVS to make all documents in fedora-docs module into separate modules. Tommy: Convert tasks into a schedule, split out goals, borrowing from Extras template. Tammy: How to create a new CVS module, for the Doc Guide. Tammy: Look into ViewCVS. One objective is to get regular reports of activity on documentation, in order to help define abandoned docs. Tammy: Looking into sponsorship of Doc Days and similar incentives for community participation. Action Status: ============== * New writers will find this page very useful in getting started: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/DocsProject/NewWriters * Details on gaining CVS access are available at: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/DocsProject/CvsUsage * Stuart has made signficant progress on tracking the status of all documents ever proposed or in the works, pulling together information from disparate locations. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/DocsProject/EditorAssignments * Paul and Karsten have the first iteration of the style guidelines put into the Doc Guide. These are required reading for writers and editors to be able to work together. http://fedora.redhat.com/participate/documentation-guide/ch-style.html * Karsten announced the style changes and noted they are required reading for writers and editors. * CVS is available at /cvs/docs for all documentation projects. Discussion Results: =================== IDEA: A Docs Day, contest/competition with booty/prizes, for example, Bug Bounty. NOTE: CVS: Separate module for all docs, makes it easier to check out. NOTE: Wiki is acting as a work-in-progress area to make process and info available immediately. Eventually, all of this will be in the Doc Guide. NOTE: If ViewCVS doesn't provide the reporting we need to track documentation activity, we can look into scraping fedora-docs-commits into a Wiki. Objective is to use existing tools to capture document status instead of having another Wiki page for everyone to keep updated. NOTE: A layout/outline using blank XML pages is considered enough to get into CVS with. NOTE: Snot is considered off-topic. NOTE: It's nice to have a list of closed and accomplished tasks. -- Karsten Wade, RHCE * Sr. Tech Writer * http://people.redhat.com/kwade/ gpg fingerprint: 2680 DBFD D968 3141 0115 5F1B D992 0E06 AD0E 0C41 Red Hat SELinux Guide http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-4-Manual/selinux-guide/ -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Also, I have two new translations! Polish, and Spanish! As always, let me know if you have any contributions or feedback! You can read about how to contribute at: http://www.fedorafaq.org/contribute/ And a note to translators: Yes, the translation mailing list is currently down. I'm going to fix that soon, and then send you this latest update so that you can translate it. :-) Oh, and if you'd like to translate the FAQ into your own language, please contact me! I love having translations. :-) -Max -- http://www.everythingsolved.com/ Fedora is definitely part of the "everything" in Everything Solved. This update restores the font back. - Official X.Org no longer supports the archaic "Speedo" font type, as of the 6.8.0 release, however the *.spd files were still installed and included with standard Xorg X11 packaging by default. These fonts are now removed from the fonts-xorg packages. - The ISO8859-14 font subpackages were lacking rpm installation scripts, which could cause font related upgrade/install problems in some cases. These packages now include standard rpm font installation scripts. --------------------------------------------------------------------- * Mon May 16 2005 Mike A. Harris 6.8.2-0.FC3.1 - Rebuild 6.8.2-1 from FC-4 as 6.8.2-0.FC3.1 for FC3 update, to fix (#139108, 142744,154191). * Fri Apr 8 2005 Mike A. Harris 6.8.2-1 - Remove the Speedo font files, as Xorg no longer supports Speedo fonts in 6.8.0 onward but includes the fonts accidentally. (#142744,154191) - Changed base subpackage post script to remove the Speedo font path from xfs configuration to avoid warnings in /var/log/messages from xfs about bad font path elements. * Fri Apr 8 2005 Mike A. Harris 6.8.1.1-2 - Added postun scripts for ISO8859-14 fonts, as they were previously missing, which could cause problems on uninstallation of those fonts. * Wed Mar 2 2005 Mike A. Harris 6.8.1.1-1.EL.1 - Bumped 6.8.1.1-1 to 6.8.1.1-1.EL.1, merged into RHEL4 for U1 * Mon Nov 29 2004 Mike A. Harris 6.8.1.1-1 - Updated main tarball to include lucidatypewriter fonts that were missing from X.Org X11 6.8.1, and renamed it to 6.8.1.1 to avoid multiple tarballs with same version but different contents, since it was updated with the new fonts. Description : Squid is a high-performance proxy caching server for Web clients, supporting FTP, gopher, and HTTP data objects. Unlike traditional caching software, Squid handles all requests in a single, non-blocking, I/O-driven process. Squid keeps meta data and especially hot objects cached in RAM, caches DNS lookups, supports non-blocking DNS lookups, and implements negative caching of failed requests. Squid consists of a main server program squid, a Domain Name System lookup program (dnsserver), a program for retrieving FTP data (ftpget), and some management and client tools. --------------------------------------------------------------------- * Mon May 16 2005 Jay Fenlason 7:2.5.STABLE9-1.FC3.6 - More upstream patches, including ones for bz#157456 CAN-2005-1519 DNS lookups unreliable on untrusted networks bz#156162 CVE-1999-0710 cachemgr.cgi access control bypass - The following bugs had already been fixed, but the announcements were lost bz#156711 CAN-2005-1390 HTTP Request Smuggling Vulnerabilities bz#156703 CAN-2005-1389 HTTP Response Splitting Vulnerabilities (Both fixed by squid-7:2.5.STABLE8-1.FC3.1) bz#151419 Unexpected access control results on configuration errors (Fixed by 7:2.5.STABLE9-1.FC3.2) bz#152647#squid-2.5.STABLE9-1.FC3.4.x86_64.rpm is broken (fixed by 7:2.5.STABLE9-1.FC3.5) bz#141938 squid ldap authentification broken (Fixed by 7:2.5.STABLE7-1.FC3) * Fri Apr 1 2005 Jay Fenlason 7:2.5.STABLE9-1.FC3.5 - More upstream patches, including a new version of the -2GB patch that doesn't break diskd. --------------------------------------------------------------------- This update can be downloaded from: http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/3/ c94ce8b9fc2ae09b867fa73a4036901b SRPMS/squid-2.5.STABLE9-1.FC3.6.src.rpm 6862c9189f1686280b95a31501ce5283 x86_64/squid-2.5.STABLE9-1.FC3.6.x86_64.rpm 5e96af43a684836da7e88279a5643b1a x86_64/debug/squid-debuginfo-2.5.STABLE9-1.FC3.6.x86_64.rpm 81f8f55caf7f423054356ae57c2d02f9 i386/squid-2.5.STABLE9-1.FC3.6.i386.rpm e912773d9f9889686a70debe1c1146c8 i386/debug/squid-debuginfo-2.5.STABLE9-1.FC3.6.i386.rpm This update can also be installed with the Update Agent; If you want to develop your own applications which use ImageMagick code or APIs, you need to install ImageMagick-devel as well. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information: An malicious image could cause a denial-of-service in the xwd coder.
