I see that Jhon has also posted on the gnome-list group and he posted
that the following command line should work:

gconftool-2 -t str --set /desktop/gnome/background/ \
picture_filename "http://somesite.com/wallpaper1.png"

So I guess, once we update the file, we should just run the following
command again and it should change it.

I am currently toying around with doing this in Java, if I have a
WebStart app running, I shall host it for you guys to try.

I am not the Python person (unfortunately).
