CD-RW/DVD Kombilaufwerk nicht richtig erkannt

Hallo,

war bis dato nur spradisch lesender Abonnement dieser Liste, da ich erst
jetzt auf Fedora Core 2 umgestellt habe (Umstieg von SuSE 9.1 und ich
fühl mich sauwohl dabei ... :).

Möchte mich mit folgendem Problem an die Community wenden:
ich hab die FC2 auf meinen Laptop, Marke Compaq Presario 900 Type 919EA,
installiert. Dieser hat ein CD-RW/DVD Kombi Laufwerk, das unter k3b
leider nur als Reader identifiziert wird.

cdrecord -scanbus gibt mir dieses hier aus:

Starte ich k3b das erste Mal als root werde ich aufgefordert, den max.
Brennspeed des Brenners einzustellen.
Mache ich das als Otto-Normaluser macht k3b das nicht, sondern gibt mir
ein und dasselbe Gerät nur als Reader.

Hat irgendwer 'ne Idee dazu? Google hat mir leider nicht weitergeholfen.
