Fullscreen and Panels

Dear All

In order to have quick access to frequently used apps I have added a
panel on the left side of the screen with icons and drawers. The desktop
is shifted to the right by the width of the panel. Unfortunately, when a
new window opens it will appear under the panel, because applications
are not aware that the desktop is now smaller. The same is true when
moving the panel to the right or top of the screen. Oh btw, why has the
menu panel disappeared, it looked nice in Gnome 2.2.

Is this a known bug? If not, please add it to the list ;-)
