But FC4 was said to be ``100% JPackage compatible''. Why couldn't
updates be provided through JPackage (I guess as a support issue it's
another story)? Also, if a particular package that *is not* in Fedora
requires an updated package (an older version of which *is* in Fedora),
then one loses the ability to upgrade this package from JPackage as well.

It would be nice to have one repository trump the other (in the general
case, but maybe not here). You'd have to specify either by name alone,
or by version. Also, you would have to be able to tell it to avoid
upgrades if it has to uninstall certain dependencies in order for the
upgrade to happen. As an example:

<package name>: [<'uninstall'|'keep'>] 'prefer' <repo name> ['for'
<'name'|'version'>].
