Fair enough. I just wanted to clarify that xfce4 is an example. 

What I really wanted to get at was the desire for a lighter but
functional alternative to Gnome/KDE. Something between twm and
Gnome/KDE. It could be fvwm2, or whatever. I happen to like xfce, but if
people agree on the need for a lighter option, I'd like to steer the
discussion toward what might be suitable alternative, not reasons to
ignore the issue.
