The box has been upgraded live from RHL 7.2->7.3->8.0->9 -> FC1 and up
to 8.0 the trimmed-down package set was small enough to fit into *disk*
(remember, 450MB disk..) simultaneously during upgrade so it was
possible to do the upgrade in single transaction. 

Anaconda certainly consumes gobs of memory but 32MB memory + 32/64MB
swap will get you a long way.. A stock workstation class RHL 9 upgrade
to FC1 with apt (while testing the rpmlib-implementation) topped at
around 70MB (IIRC) memory usage so would get tight on a 32MB box but
again we're talking about a much smaller package set too.

Not that I really care, I've been running it more out of curiosity to
see how far it can go than anything else. So far it's done just fine :)
