Preemptible kernel in Fedora Core 2

I've done some more tests. Again, with 2.6 test11 without preempt, I get
scheduling latencies as high as 27ms or so. With preempt enabled, I get
nothing higher than 5 ms.

So, I do take one statemnt back, sort of: 2.6 isn't as bad as an
unpatched 2.4 kernel, but it's still unusable for low latency audio
work, at least on my system. I works just fine with preempt enabled, though.

I (and many other people, I'm sure) would probably prefer not to have to
recompile their kernel just to get their recording software to work.
This was my motivation for bringing up the subject in the first place.
