In my opinion this is a lovely change, and allowed me to remove the
nautilus entry specifying the location of ~/evolution to some non-
visible coordinate).

But I still think it should be a gconf option (the path) and that by
default it should be ~/.XPTO fo any app (I consider broken in this
aspect an app that puts  visible directories a newbie user would better
not touch by himself.
