cdrdao 1.1.7 on fedora-devel can write cds directly by ATAPI access:

$ rpm -q cdrdao
cdrdao-1.1.7-8.atapi.1

$ rpm -q --changelog cdrdao | head -n3
* Mon Jan 26 2004 Harald Hoyer <harald at redhat.de> 1.1.7-8.atapi.1

Of course, having it updated to 1.1.8 shouldn't hurt anybody.
