We still now have /var/mail and /var/spool/mail in our source base, so
only an alternative path has been added. I fear we will never be able
to remove symlinks if we try to please our current setup as well as the
LSB-2.0 thinking and also create a nightmare for apache addon packages
as well as sysadmin backup scripts and other stuff.
