To be pedantic and fair, although it doesn't help much with the question
at hand...

There actually is open source support for this (at least on the 2.4
side) using the "Enhanced" MD code.  But that seems to have been beaten
down somewhat when it was posted to lkml.  Once things settle down
around all of the various "hardware" RAID stuff with 2.6 in general, I'm
guessing that HostRAID will get support again.
