GNOME uses similar versioning to the kernel.

So 2.8 is a stable release, and 2.9 is a development release.  As such,
you don't want to be using 2.9.x unless you are willing to test gnome as
it heads for a stable release 2.10

I'm fairly confident that 2.10 will be included in FC4 since they have
similar release schedules.
