Indeed, we should have applied that one IMO, it fell through the cracks
since it wasn't on the tracker bugs. I added it now and we could get it
in an update or in FC4 or whatever.

Kudos to Soeren for profiling and optimizing vte while the rest of us
speculated about the problem in long mailing list threads ;-)
