I don't get your problem. I'm a fairly strong user of OpenSSL, but
GNUtls has importance:
* better licensing
* alternative implementation
* brings competition
I think it's about time more people started using it too.
By your logic, GNU/Linux would never have grown as it has been growing.
It's more important to make GNUtls ready than discussing strawmen...
