If Eclipse goes then so does all of the Java stuff since Eclipse is our
bytecode compiler.

I'm sorry, but I think this is silly and leads to finger-pointing.  Just
because I work on and use Eclipse and lots of the Java-related stuff
doesn't mean that others don't see other things as being just as useful.

My only other comments are the following:

  . there is a very active and vibrant "open source/free java" community
  . having these in Core brings in a large segment of Java users who would
    normally just download the non-free JVMs
  . Eclipse is a well-supported upstream project
  . we have people within RH working on all of this
