Uhm, hal is piece of software that keeps a list of your hardware,
provides hooks for configuring it, and notifies anyone who is
interested when hardware is added/removed. What you suggest has
nothing to do with that.

Uhm, no, this has nothing to do with hal. It belongs somewhere else.
