Pup handles updates now and there are plans to add installing.

You can use Nautilus to do scp. Go to places/add a server.., add a ssh
server, type in the details and now you have drag and drop
functionality.

If she really needs fast access to the terminal go in the menus and drag
the icon to the desktop or a panel.
