domain 0 grabbed all of memory and isn't letting it go. try adding
dom0_mem=128000
to the end of the kernel line in /etc/grub.conf (saying kernel /xen.gz
...) and rebooting. I'd suggest going to runlevel 3 to avoid starting up
X with so little memory.

Do not meddle in the internals of kernels, for they are subtle and quick to panic.
